Let's settle in...Today we had a tour of Mobile with Lyn, Megan's boss at 15 Place, starting around 9am.Lyn brought us to all of our placements. Megan is at 15 Place as a Homeless Services Assistant. Leopie (Andrew) is an Assistant Outreach Manager and Intake Worker at Healthcare for the Homeless. Mary P. is an Activity Center Member at L'Arche. Andrew Vivian is the Activity Trip Coordinator and Office Assistant at L'Arche. Matt is an Office Assistant and Intake Clinician at MBA Volunteer Lawyers Program. Emily is a Caseworker at the Catholic Social Service Center. Finally I will be an Intake Paralegal at Legal Services Alabama.
We all work with in a few blocks of each other. Most of us will be calling each other about referring clients or following up on cases. These jobs each have challenges and rewards. I am inspired by the work my fellow community mates will be doing, because even learning about their jobs pulled at my heartstrings. I know we will all need the support of our community throughout this year for those challenging cases and rough days. I am excited to start my job but I am sure I have a lot to learn before I'll start doing intake interviews.
