Day 7- August 17, 2010

Today we really got to settle. Last night I was able to pick up my boxes from Mike and Susie's house, which is about two miles away from our house. I went with Mary P., Emily, and Megan. John flirted with Mary P. and Eleanor acted as if she was dog barking at us as Mike and Susie showed us their new separate rooms. Man, I've missed these kids!

This morning we were able to run errands, sleep in, and unpack our things. Mary P.'s rooms looks like she's lived there for years. She's in a room with an awful pink paint color, however over the past JV years quotes have been written on her walls. Some quotes are better than others and she has already begun to add her own.

I unpacked my boxes and realized I have a lot of clothes. Well that's not true, I have always known I have a lot of clothes, but I felt I really only brought what I needed to Mobile. I gave three huge garbage bags to Goodwill over the summer as I sorted through my things and decided what to pack. But as I unpacked with Mary P., Emily, and Megan on my bed I realized I have a lot of clothes! My goal is to pick one this every week or two and put it in our Goodwill box. The fact that I could go home to CT today to still find a full wardrobe is frustrating. But simple living is a marathon not a sprint, and most recently, I believe Matt described it as an attitude you develop. So in this year I will also be working to develop my simple living attitude.

We had lunch with our support people: Andrew Grinstead and David O'Brien. They are both interesting men who have been support for the JVs in Mobile for several years. I am excited to see what knowledge they bring to the table and find out what exactly they'll role will be within our community.
