Day 9- August 18, 2010

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today was our first day of work. I started my day by informing my mom that her birthday gift was that her "baby girl is at her first day of a big girl job." It wasn't my first day working at a "real" job, but it was the first time I wasn't going to be going to school in a few hours or only be working for the few months I had in the summer. I started a year long 8:30am - 5:00pm job, a "real" job!

I don't remember anyones name from work. I'm not sure what I am going to be doing. I have a huge binder with chapters to read. At the end of each chapter is a worksheet I need to scan and e-mail to Debra in Montgomery. I take that back, maybe I still am in school??

I also learned that on Friday I will be renting a car to drive to Montgomery for training with Debra. Jane is a volunteer in the office who is working on getting her Paralegal certificate and is volunteering at Legal Services for experience. She'll be coming with me to Montgomery.

I have my own office on the 21st floor. The building is being redone and in January we are moving to the 16th floor but until then we are in our office with noise of construction below our feet and above our heads. It is interesting to feel as if there is someone who is about the drill through the floor above you and fall onto your desk...
