It has now been renames the GM Building. There are about 4 offices still occupied in the building, and Legal Services in one of them. Recently we have been having quit a few problems. Our phone/internet lines have been cut off a few times as the demolition on the floor above us began. Not only has it sounded like there is construction above and below our heads but we've had a few issues within out offices. Marie, our Domestic Violence attorney, had a ceiling tile fall as she was interviewing a client. My office along with several others have had leaking ceilings. Pandora has now become a permanent staple to my work environment to drown out the dripping.
Today the power went out. Not just to our floor but to several floors. After the power had been down for about 30 minutes Ann, the office supervisor, let us know we could leave. One problem, with the power out so were the elevators. Jane and I were up to the challenge. We walked down 21 flights of stairs, for me in heals. Jane was kind enough to give me a ride home.
It turned out that 10 or 15 minutes after we left the power was restored.
On our way home I was telling Jane about my big plans for halloween and my lack of inspiration for how to make my idea a reality. With that Jane drove me straight to the Good Will, Party City, and the fabric shop, which are all in the same strip mall! It was great. Now I have all the things I need to make my costume. Stay tuned for how it works out!
