Last night we had a support meeting about usury. It was a really interesting topic but I found it nearly impossible to separate the abstract moral concept from the specific cases of my clients. My client's who need pay day loans to pay hospital bills or prevent eviction. Yes, some people disregard their finances and feel entitled to our services but others seek our assistance as a lost resort after they had exhausted all other options. Options which have put these clients further into debt and more discouraged than before. Think about how the system enables and continues the epidemic of poverty.
