Day 121- December 8, 2010

This morning as Matt and I walked into my office building, he said "Another day, another $3.30," and kept on walking to his office.  It made me think.  I do not work for the money, if it were about money I would not be doing the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, making $100 a month.  But instead it is about the bigger picture.

Today I brought documents to the court house that will allow a mistreated woman to finally divorce her abusive spouse.  This client will not need to pay, since she had no income, for her legal representation or to file her divorce, which is a basic need to her at this time. I also retrieved a final a document stating that a wage garnishment has been reversed for one of our Clients.  This Client will no longer worry that they may not be able to make a rent payment, a car payment, or put food on the table because they are only being given half their paycheck after the funds are removed by the Adverse Party.

It's not "another day, another $3.30", but another day and another person's livelihood upheld.  Another day, another Client we can help.  Another day, another life we can change just by listening.  In the end, each day of work is not just another day at all, each day is important and changes peoples lives, even if it is in a little way we may never see.
